About

Biography

Andy Williams has an interest in painting both as process as well as its potential for visual allegory. Stemming from an early fascination with language and in particular comedy Williams is concerned with the way the seemingly lateral flow of language can be disrupted to reveal something about that process, often in an unexpected or sublime way.

Born in 1965, Williams gained a BA Honours in 1998 from Staffordshire University and MA in Fine Art from Birmingham City University in 2000. Based now in Newcastle-under-Lyme, he has previously lived, worked and exhibited in Birmingham; London and Trondheim, Norway.

His work is held in private collections as well as being purchased by Trondheim Kunst Museum and St Olav’s Hospital for their comprehensive art collection “Visuelle Vitaminer”.
